The Cambridge Chesterfield Sofa Bed

The Cambridge Chesterfield Sofa Bed brings together two things rarely done well in the same piece of furniture: the timeless elegance of a classic Chesterfield sofa and the genuine practicality of a full sleeping bed. Handmade at our workshop in Blackburn, Lancashire, it is built on the same solid hardwood frame and upholstered to the same standard as every Cambridge in our range — with the addition of a concealed 3-fold pull-out sleeping mechanism fitted cleanly within the seat.

All the Chesterfield, none of the compromise

By day, the Cambridge Sofa Bed is indistinguishable from the standard Cambridge. The deep button tufting, scrolled arms, and low-profile back are all present — and the seat is firm and properly supported, not the shallow, foam-padded affair that often signals a sofa bed in disguise. Guests sitting on it will not know it converts. You will have to tell them.

The 3-fold sleeping mechanism

The sleeping surface uses a 3-fold action mechanism — one of the most reliable and space-efficient designs available. Unlike traditional pull-out beds that require the sofa to be pulled away from the wall, the 3-fold system folds out in three connected sections directly from the seat, with no tools and no heavy lifting. The result is a stable, flat sleeping surface that tucks away completely when not in use, leaving no visible trace of the mechanism from the front or sides of the sofa.

Available as a 2 or 3 seater

The Cambridge Sofa Bed is available in two sizes. The 2 seater is well-suited to smaller guest rooms and studios where space is at a premium. The 3 seater provides a more generous sleeping width and is the more popular choice where room allows. Both share exactly the same frame construction, mechanism, and upholstery specification.

Available across our full leather range with over 50 colour and leather combinations. Our Traditional Antique is the most popular — a warm, durable two-tone finish available in eight colours. The Full Grain Windsor offers a clean matt finish across a wide contemporary palette. The Superior Old English is semi-aniline and naturally distressed, while our Vintage leather is heavily cracked and weathered for a lived-in character that only improves over time.
